The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I was very excited to see this movie, it had all the things that intrugues me in great movies, interesting story, great art direction, great acting and a little on the dark/off-beat side.

Man, from the time the credits open, it’s just so cool looking, things don’t totally look real, but they look like pieces of art. Kinda like Moulin Rouge does.

The story kicks off at the end of World War 1, where BB’s mom dies while giving birth to him. Baby BB, is old and wrinkley, kinda looks like Gizmos long lost white brother. Horrible special effects there. Was it a muppet? But as BB grows up/grow young the special effects are remarkable—I mean groundbreaking. Benjamin looks so cool as an old guy and the story is totally facinating at this point.

As the movie progressed on, it was what I thought it would be. Pretty much nothing unexpected, with a few  really cool edits in there. And it even ended very predictable for such a grand story.

Now, after watching this, I was left with, it was an ok movie, nothing really to stir the soul and I was wondering why?  I mean it had everything going for it but why was I left with wanting it to be more. At first I could not put my finger on it, then it hit me. I did not care for Kate Blanches character, her and Bradd Pitt did not work together at all.

So in a nutshell, great acting, great story, but the chemistry between the two left me feeling nothing.

So there ya go.
